The Word Barn - Exeter, NH

Circulus & Bright and Lyon present an exploratory evening of words and music with writer Dan Beaulieu and Jonny Peiffer’s Sojoy in Wanderkook’s Field Notes on Words on Saturday, April 8 at the Word Barn in Exeter, NH.

Wanderkook’s Field Notes on Words is at 8 p.m. April 8 at the Word Barn, 66 Newfields Road, Exeter, NH 03833. This event is one night only. Tickets are $12 in advance, available at, and $15 at the door.

Wanderkook’s Field Notes is a work-in-progress series inviting audiences to experience and participate in the development of The Wanderkook Project. Sojoy’s bandleader Jonny Peiffer created the character of Oliver Z. Wanderkook in February of 2007 with artist Dean Diggins. The work chronicles the adventures of the mythical adventurer and his discovery of nine tribes in The Land of The Two Suns.

Peiffer’s score and Diggins’ illustrations, have informed the work of writer Dan Beaulieu as he recreated Wanderkook’s own journal entries through vivid, evocative poetry. Now, with an eye towards a full immersive performance in June, the text is being revisited, revamped, and refined in a hybrid live-performance work-session with the creative team. The audience will be treated to renditions of the text by performers Colleen Madden and Cullen DeLangie as they embody Wanderkook’s words.

Earlier this Winter, Circulus presented Field Notes on Dance at The Dance Hall, Kittery. Later this spring Circulus will present Field Notes on Music at Portsmouth Music and Arts Center,  and Field Notes on Discovery, a community-based open-air experience around Portsmouth, NH. The series will culminate with The Adventures of Oliver Z Wanderkook at West End Studio Theatre, June 16-25, co-produced by Circulus and New Hampshire Theatre Project in association with Portsmouth Music and Arts Center.

Stay tuned for the next stop on the journey and all the exciting ways you can interact with Wanderkook along the way by ‘liking’ the project at and following @OZWanderkook on Twitter and Instagram.
