An Immersive trip through
the land of the two suns...

Circulus is producing its first full-scale project - The Adventures of Oliver Z. Wanderkook - at the West End Studio Theatre in June 2017, in collaboration with New Hampshire Theatre Project and Portsmouth Music and Arts Center.

The Wanderkook Project began in 2007, based on a series of illustrations by local luminary Dean Diggins and an accompanying score by Circulus co-founder Jonny Peiffer. Since then, collaborators working in text, movement and film have contributed with work that explores Kook’s journey.

For the first time, this rich world will be staged as a fully immersive experience in The Adventures of Oliver Z. Wanderkook, which chronicles the mythical ethnomusicologist Wanderkook on an expedition as he meets the Tribes of the Land of the Two Suns. The show, produced and curated by Circulus Arts, fuses music, dance, illustration, animation, film, and spoken word to share a tale of a community whose habitat is on the brink of a looming unknown.

Prior to June, audiences will meet Wanderkook through a unique open rehearsal process presented at venues throughout the Seacoast. Wanderkook’s Field Notes is a series of Work-in-Progress events encouraging audiences to engage with the development of this multi-disciplinary work. These interactive events will look at the creation of dance, text and music for the full production. Elements in visual design, and audience interaction will also be workshopped throughout the Field Notes series.
